Help is on the way

When you and your family face the challenges of divorce, custody, support, or domestic violence, all you want to return to peace and healthy relationships. Divorce is hard, but it should be fair. Children should transition to the best arrangement between the parents. Home should be a safe place for everyone. And all children should have an appropriate education. If you need a lawyer to help with these issues, you’ve come to the right place. If you are looking for experienced representation in family and education law, contact my office. Let me put my experience to work for you.

Over 35 years of experience

The law firm of Penelope A. Boyd, Attorney was founded in 1980 and has been located in Chester County, Pennsylvania, since 1990. The focus of our practice is helping families secure appropriate education services for children with disabilities and families in transition due to divorce, custody and domestic violence.     I also represent people on claims for Social Security Disability benefits and in cases where there has been discrimination on the basis of disability, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity.

Practical Results

You may want to take your case to the Supreme Court of the United States.  But most people want an attorney who will find the simplest way to get the best result.  If that involves litigation and appeals, I can help.  But if negotiation or mediation will solve your problem, then that may be the way to go.  Trying a case as far as it will go, including the Supreme Court, is always an option but your attorney should also be able to explore practical alternatives.

In the best circumstances, parents are able to agree on child custody.  When they do not, or if the current situation is not in the child's best interests, you want an attorney able to advance your case to the Court.

Child and Spousal Support

Court awards of support for a spouse of children may be inevitable, but if you think you are paying too much or receiving too little, consult with an experienced attorney.

Domestic Violence

Home should be safe place.  If it is not, you want an attorney who has successfully helped survivors of domestic violence to escape the relationship and build a new life.

Special Education

Every child should receive a free appropriate public education.. Children with disabilities should not be subject to discipline or exclusion from classes because of their disabilities.

Mental Health and Disability

If a mental health  or a disability affects you or a family member, you may need the help of an experienced disability rights attorney
